Also, you need to keep in mind that your boyfriend loved you for a reason.  You might have changed from that person that he once loved.  So, you will need to evaluate yourself and try to figure out what changed in you as this might be the reason why he left you.  However, if you are happy with who you are now, then you need to think if it will really be worth it to get back with your ex boyfriend.  If you are not ready to change and be the person that he wants you to be, then it is not really worth trying to get your boyfriend back.

Lastly, you should know that having your boyfriend in your thoughts is one thing; you should also make the effort to let them know that you are thinking about them.  Being too busy in your work may have given your boyfriend the impression that you do not care about him.  Call them, even if it is just to say hello.  Even though you are away from each other right now, you should keep in touch with your boyfriend so he knows you care.
